Stop Settling and Start Choosing Yourself

3 Therapist-Approved Ways to Reclaim Your Worth

Feeling stuck in one-sided relationships? You’re not broken—you’ve been conditioned to put others first. I’m Randi Corrigan, MA, LMHC. Here are three tools I use with clients to help them start choosing themselves again:

1️⃣ Decide You Are Worthy

You are the author of your story — not your past, not the people who hurt you, and not the voice of self-doubt that still echoes inside.
Worthiness isn’t earned; it’s remembered.
Today, decide to reclaim it.
Even a single moment of believing “I matter” begins to rewrite the narrative your inner child never got to tell.

2️⃣ Choose Better Because You Deserve Better

Healing begins with one conscious decision: I’m ready for more.
When you choose yourself — in relationships, boundaries, and self-care — you send a signal to your subconscious that you are ready to live differently.
This decision is an act of rebellion against every pattern that once kept you small.

3️⃣ Build Self-Trust Through Small Promises

Start by honoring your simplest needs: rest, nourishment, honesty.
Each small promise you keep to yourself — a walk, a journal entry, a pause before saying yes — becomes proof that you can rely on you.
This is the foundation of reparenting: teaching your nervous system, through action, that you are safe, capable, and worthy of care.

These steps may look simple, but they’re powerful.
They’re how you begin to rebuild a relationship with yourself based on self-respect, not self-sacrifice.
If you’re ready to go deeper, my free guide — The 5-Step Checklist to Stop Settling and Start Choosing Yourself — walks you through the full process of breaking patterns and embodying your worth.
